Privacy Policy for AutoMute

Last updated: January 2026

1. Information We Collect

AutoMute processes your notifications entirely on your device. When you grant notification access, the app reads notification metadata (such as the app name and channel ID) only to allow you to configure mute rules. Nothing is uploaded to our servers or cloud services. All configuration data is stored locally on your device in secure system preferences.

2. Permissions

AutoMute requires specific permissions to function correctly:

- Notification Access (Notification Listener Service): Required to detect incoming notifications and automatically mute them based on your rules. You control this permission via Android’s system settings and can revoke it at any time.
- Companion Device Access: Required on modern Android versions to modify notification channel settings (importance/sound) without requiring root access. This permission is used solely for the local management of your notification preferences.
- Boot Completed: Required to restart the monitoring service automatically when you restart your phone.

3. Data Usage and Storage

We do not collect, transmit, or sell your personal data. The app operates offline and does not require an internet connection. All "Mute Rules" you create are saved locally on your device.

4. Children’s Privacy

AutoMute is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children. Since the app operates locally, no personal data is collected or shared with us.

5. Changes

We may update this policy from time to time. Any revisions will appear here with a new “Last updated” date. Continued use of AutoMute after the update means you accept the revised policy.
